The Production - Phase 1


“(Almost) going into full-production mode!”

Week 1 of the production stage, we're finally here, LAND SIGHTED MATEYS!
Aside from a minor delay, concerning core mechanics, that took us back to the prototyping stage for a few days, we can conclude we're going into production.

So without any further ado, here are the main updates listed below;

- Dennis worked on the obstacle spawning in the water, they damage your ship when you collide into them. All obstacles are avoidable by steering away from them. He also added a repair function for the players, which allows each player to repair damaged and/or broken interactables on their ship.

- Quinten managed to create impact holes on the deck of the ship where players could fall through (and drown), which adds a nice level of detail to the game. He also tweaked the steering of the ships and whenever your ship's hull strength is severely low, it will cause to steer slightly off on a sinewave based trajectory.

- Kristof made it so the interactables on the ship become disabled when sufficiently damaged, that is through cannonball impacts. Players that get hit by cannonballs now instantly die and respawn on their respective respawnpoint.

This week turned out to be quite successful, most to all core mechanics have been implemented, now's the time to add even more features, content, interpolating the actions and movements and probably some balancing in general.
