The Polishing - Stage 1

"At last.. Neptune/Poseidon is with us!"

Week 1 of the polishing stage, and man it feels like I've just been spiraling down a hole of everything but productiveness..

Good thing we 'don't' have other courses and deadlines to reach.. (sarcasm intended)

Here's a more general view of the game currently (1p): https://gyazo.com/a1fa0d55815e00b8d98a87d4b775ad33
We finally have a pirate flag! https://gyazo.com/feb95814da7082e6e2e35baea0536690

Main updates
Programming part:

- Dennis refined the island spawning and added the new ones in. Scenery will be a follow-up.
He added foam decals to the ships, so it feels more like they are moving, at last, some indication. (Yeah, I'm looking at you, DobbingScript..)
If you saw a hit player flying from the deck that was also his doing this week.

- Quinten: implemented audio into the game, e.g. created the prefabs which we could use. Also fixed the animation and texture bug from previous 2 weeks.
Reused the falling animation to have players 'float' in the water before eventually drowning. Notice as in former versions they'd just fall into the void below the water.
Also helped Kristof research about a possible fix for the player collision detection when a ship is dobbing. (Yeah, be damned, physics in Unity!)

- Kristof tried setting up the ship dobbing together with the notorious player collisions, but to no avail. This is moved to the last week of polishing.  He went on with creating a prototype of seagull movement as a nice finishing touch, but since the seagull model and animation(s) is coming in the last week, we'll have it scheduled for then.

Artistic part:

-Elie: more  particles and made the broken props visible when something gets damaged.
Elie is now mostly on stand-by since he's done most of his fair share of the work.
(And yes, he's still working hard ;) )
Playtested a lot!

-Lukas: one abbreviation; UI (but it looks sliCC)

-Ilja:  finished the remaining animations needed to get rid of that texture bug. More props for island->About time to hunt for that treasure chest! ;)
More playtesting!

Well, we're almost nearing the end, and we're somewhat proud of what we've already accomplished.
The time for creating new mechanics and/or content is over, it's time to polish up this bad boy completely.
Thank you for staying with us this entire semester, through corona and everything.

Take care
